Your $11,111 Coffee Is Served

If you’re a coffee connoisseur, this is the One.  In fact, the Blossom One Limited is quite possibly the swankiest space-age coffeemaker on Earth.

Arriving via limited engagement in Spring 2013, the Blossom One was designed and developed by three coffee astronauts fresh out of university and stints at Apple, BMW, NASA and Tesla Motors.

In a recent chat with the Huffington Post, Blossom President Jeremy Kuempel traced the inspiration for the Blossom One to his coffee-swilling college days, when his taste buds became so sensitive to nuances within a single blend that he realized he’d have to micromanage every cup to achieve the perfect brew for his palate.

He says six factors influence the quality of a cup of coffee. Yes, six. They are: the temperature of the water, the amount of agitation (stirring) during preparation, the ratio of coffee to water, the brew pressure, the size of the grounds and the amount of time the coffee is in contact with the water.

The new Blossom One’s computer effortlessly takes all this into account to help you figure out the ideal brew and temperature for your buds—or you can use the machine’s 1.3MP camera to scan the Blossom QR recipe you’ll find on packages of select coffee roaster partners. Just as keen on looks as functionality? According to the company’s website, the unit comes in mahogany, walnut, sapele, teak or zebrawood that can be customized to match your kitchen cabinetry. Or, you can always re-do your cabinets around the Blossom. The price tag also entitles you to personal support service and free maintenance for one year.

An exquisite blend of innovation and design makes this machine heaven-sent for early adopters, niche baristas and high-end specialty shops. With only ten rolling out initially, at a price of $11,111, it probably won’t be hitting your kitchen counter anytime soon. But if perfectionism is your cup of…uh…coffee, keep your eyes open for Blossom One. It’s one small step for man, one giant leap for coffee
