When in Copenhagen

Design firm Space Architecture & Design has transformed Copenhagen’s world-renowned restaurant Noma into an icy Nordic oasis. Imagining a dreamy atmosphere in sync with the building and the ‘Time and Place in Nordic Cuisine’ philosophy, the designers have captured the visceral feeling of crisp winter air.

“To us Nordic is not a certain look, it is more a certain feel, a preference of composing space and using organic materials, an atmosphere, an interest in nature, a need for the tactile, personal, and honest,” Henriksen told Co.Design.

An elegant balance between rough and refined detail, the team used earthy materials like oak flooring, furred seats, leather and brass with colder stone, black and white hues.
