Power Nap At Work

French designer Marie-Virginie Berbet is now working with furniture manufacturer Haworth and Zyken to develop a commercial sleeping cell called CalmSpace. She designed the capsule with optimized environmental conditions, by integrating  Zyken sound and light technology, for a short but regenerative slumber.

Studies have shown that a nap primes our brains to function at a higher level, letting us formulate better ideas, find solutions to puzzles more quickly, identify patterns faster and recall information more accurately.

Constructed from dark grey-blue composite material and acoustic foam between the internal and external skin, CalmSpace contains a single mattress as well as preset lighting cycles and soundtracks. This immersive environment allows you to disconnect from the work place and catch some Z’s. At the end of your 10, 15 or 20 minute sequence an energizing blue light will wake you.
