Coach Flagship Stores Get Luxury Makeover

Archinect broke the news about the Coach/OMA collaboration to redesign the luxury retailers upcoming flagship stores in New York and Tokyo. The iconic American brand has commissioned OMA to develop a new merchandizing system that accommodates Coach’s wide array of products while communicating the clarity of Coach’s heritage stores.

OMA’s New York office designed both projects led be partner Shohei Shigematsu and project architect Rami Abou-Khalil. By creating a system of modular display units, with unlimited assembly options for the specific needs of each location, used as an interior fixture allows Coach to tell a story with any variety of their products while projecting the legibility of its original stores. The system will be used to create numerous spatial possibilities for Coach, in line with Coach’s motto of logic and magic.

Scheduled to open in September 2012, Coach’s 1,930 square foot flagship shop within a shop in New York’s newly renovated Macy’s Herald Square marks the beginning of the OMA concept Coach stores. OMA will also use its concepts in the brands new multi-level flagship store in Omotesando, Tokyo to be completed in 2013.
