Marc Fish, a UK based furniture designer continues to produce luxurious contemporary pieces with an edge. Inspired by art, architecture, sculpture and the perfection commonly found in nature, Fish uses only the finest timbers and veneers for his imaginative designs. His most recent project, the Nautilus II, a large statement piece for a loft style apartment overlooking the English Channel showcases his keen eye for design and exquisite craftsmanship. The Nautilus II embraces modern computer-aided technology combined with innovative construction techniques and a hint of the sea. The technique developed by Fish turns 4000 pieces of veneer strips into a 10mm thick logarithmic spiral. To replicate the outside of the shell, fluted growth patterns were hand carved into the pieces. Inside, a satin sheen runs smoothly into a chambered area of Japanese lace paper.
