Each year, Port Hercule plays host to one of the largest collections of high-end luxury yachts Europe has to offer. The backdrop for the event is the Mediterranean hills of Monaco. With entries from more than 500 major companies in the luxury yachting world, The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) is the biggest and most consequential of boat shows in the world. Last year the MYS had a record-breaking attendance of 33,000 private and professional visitors.
The show offers a selection of over 100 super and mega yachts to tour and experience, with sizes ranging from 25-90 meters in length. The yachts that will be shown offer the newest high-end technology nautical products from the most prominent luxury yachting professionals in the world. In the center of the show is a 650m2 visiting area reserved for the show’s social and business elite. This area includes a five star restaurant, a champagne bar, a lounge, and private meeting areas.
The MYS takes place on Wednesday, September 25th through Saturday, September 28th. The event is also playing host to the final stop of the 5th Edition Only Watch World Tour. This is a charity event that benefits research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Other featured events during MYS include a Captain’s Party hosted at the Monte Carlo Hotel. The official website for the Monaco Yacht Show offers a virtual tour and film on the event.
In an attempt to benefit research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a handful of the world’s finest watch makers have teamed up to create the 5th Edition of Only Watch charity auction, where fine watch making has developed as a creative support for research on muscular dystrophy. President of the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophies (A.M.M.) Luc Pettavino started this event back in 2005. More →

Raleigh Denim believes that two words are what drive their company: old and new. In 2007, Raleigh Denim, the now sought after, high-end handmade line of jeans began in a Raleigh, North Carolina apartment. Partners in life and business, Victor and Sarah Lytvinenko own Raleigh Denim and either Victor or Sarah or one their eight sewers proudly hand signs each and every pair of Raleigh Denim Jeans. Using vintage machines from the 1920s and ‘30s that produce a rare and valued mark of authenticity called a selvage; Raleigh Denim is produced in small runs.
Raleigh Denim had very humble beginnings in 2007, but an order for 114 pairs of jeans from Barneys New York changed everything in 2008. With a little help from the national stimulus plan, the little business that could was up and running at a time when many businesses were forced to close their doors. Victor and Sarah sewed each and every pair of jeans for that initial order of 114. Today, Raleigh denim is sold in twenty-four Barneys New York stores. Everything about the company is steeped in Southern tradition. The denim used to produce Raleigh Denim jeans is produced just seventy-seven miles away in Greensboro, NC at Cone Denim’s White Oak plant that’s existed since 1905. At one time, the plant produced one-third of the planet’s denim and was the world’s largest mill.
Raleigh Denim is located at 319 West Martin Street in Raleigh, North Carolina. For many, “Made in the USA” means something and it certainly means something to Victor and Sarah Lytvinenko. For everyone else, it means well-made, stylish, contemporary-fitting jeans.
There is no denying that Midcentury Modern has made a huge come back and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. A recent search on Houzz.com resulted in 290,991 Midcentury Modern home design photos. Midcentury Modern homes are being coveted as is Midcentury Modern furniture. While the clean lines, open floor plans and large windows often associated with Midcentury Modern homes were ahead of their time, today, they evoke a sense of nostalgia and warm hearted feelings of “simpler times”. Though these homes were created in the mid-20th century, they blend almost seamlessly into the landscapes of today. Considered an American evolution, Midcentury Modern is credited mostly to Frank Lloyd Wright.
Writer, Anna Marie Erwert stated, “As an architecture style, Mid-Century modern celebrates something cleaner, more stark and capacious than the Victorian school.” Midcentury modern homes can be found in many places, but Palm Springs, California is often thought of as a “Midcentury Modern oasis” that features one of the world’s largest collections of mid-20th century modern architecture. Private homes, condos, villas, and commercial properties all share the Midcentury Modern aesthetic in Palm Springs and because many of the best early examples of Midcentury modern homes were built in California, the term California Modern is also used to describe this style.
As stated above, it isn’t just Midcentury Modern homes that are garnering all the buzz. Original furniture from this era, can be purchased on Etsy and Ebay and with the quantities being limited, it’s a seller’s market. Furniture retailers like Room & Board and Blu Dot are literally banking on this “here to stay” trend with their reproductions from the past. To conclude, whether you are a fan of Midcentury Modern or not, expect to continue to watch it rise in popularity.

Childhood is often filled with precious memories and unforgettable moments. The first time you open a new, “fresh” box of crayons is one of them. The smell, the colors and the endless creative possibilities are just a few of the reasons why this moment is so special and perhaps why Crayola has been so successful for more than one hundred years and recognized in 99% of U.S. households.
